The perfect everyday claret. Lifted aromas of cassis, blueberry, bay leaf and dusty savory notes. Rich flavors of cassis, blueberry and chocolate lead to a medium body with leafy, tobacco like layers and fine grained, supple tannins.
Family run and operated vineyard in Frankland River, Western Australia. The original 1220 hectare property was purchased by Sandy's grandparents, Vic and Netta Lange, in 1946 and initially operated as a mixed grain and livestock farm. It was grandma Netta who chose the name "Alkoomi" for their rugged property, on land over two million years old – a local Aboriginal word meaning "a place we chose".
68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot. This wine was made with Frankland River fruit from several blocks, picked at optimal ripeness to give depth of flavor. Harvested in the early hours of the morning, the fruit was cold soaked prior to fermentation and then matured for 12 months with French oak to build complexity.
