Koerner Wines - Clare Valley, South Australia

  • Clare Valley is the home of famous Australian wineries Grosset, Jim Barry and Wendouree. It’s where Tim Knappstein cut his teeth mastering Riesling. Nestled a couple hours north of Barossa, it features terra rossa soils (amongst other types) that make for penetrating wines, as well as very cool nights which are helpful for long and more even growing times. In a nutshell – its potential for quality vine growing and winemaking has long been recognized.

  • An understanding of terroir and the individual varieties enables Koerner to produce unique wines using nothing but the grapes and a small amount of sulphur. The winery is currently implementing organic practices within their vineyards.

  • Koerner’s winemaking philosophy is simple – to make wines that reflect their place in the world, wines that are made in the vineyard.Everything is hand-picked early, wild fermented, very little oak, unfined / unfiltered.
